In 2008, Innovative Insulation Solutions Ltd. won the SPFA Industry Excellence Award in the Residential Wall Foam Category. The project was a 2000 square foot hybrid house. It is a passive solar, super-insulated, energy efficient single-family residence. This Hybrid House includes fluorescent lighting throughout, energy star rated appliances, a geothermal heat pump for backup heating and cooling, a 4.8 kW photovoltaic array and solar thermal for the production of hot water. Closed cell spray foam insulation was chosen because of its superior R-Value per inch and its ability to act as both an air and moisture barrier.
